Nelle versioni notturne di Firefox, a partire dalle quali sar\u00e0 rilasciato Firefox 127 il 11 giugno, \u00e8 stato aggiunto un nuovo meccanismo di protezione contro il tracciamento degli spostamenti degli utenti \u2014 \u00abBounce Tracking Protection\u00bb, che amplia le possibilit\u00e0 di bloccare il tracciamento dei visitatori tramite reindirizzamenti verso altre pagine. <\/p>\n

La sostanza del metodo di tracciamento consiste nel fatto che il codice del tracker reindirizza l'utente prima al proprio sito e poi lo rimanda alla pagina di destinazione, consentendo al tracker di conservare i cookie e i dati nella memoria locale legati al proprio sito. La conservazione dei dati dopo il passaggio a un altro sito permette di eludere i metodi implementati nella modalit\u00e0 di Enhanced Tracking Protection (ETP) per bloccare operazioni cross-site \u2014 poich\u00e9 la pagina intermedia si apre al di fuori del contesto di un altro sito, su tale pagina \u00e8 possibile stabilire senza ostacoli cookie di tracciamento. <\/p>\n

Il meccanismo di Bounce Tracking Protection consente di intercettare attivit\u00e0 specifiche per il tracciamento attraverso reindirizzamenti e di eliminare periodicamente i cookie e i dati conservati localmente utilizzati per il tracciamento. A differenza della modalit\u00e0 precedente denominata \u00abCookie Purging\u00bb, la cancellazione non avviene sulla base di un elenco di tracker noti, ma su base euristica, che consente di individuare nuovi siti di tracker analizzando il comportamento dopo il reindirizzamento.
