Il problema si manifesta nei stack wireless di qualsiasi sistema operativo e coinvolge i metodi di autenticazione WPA3, WEP, EAP, AMPE e FILS.    <\/p>\n<p>La tecnica di attacco proposta, denominata Confusione SSID, consente di eludere i metodi di autenticazione presenti nel protocollo della rete, che proteggono contro l'alterazione dell'identificativo della rete SSID e impediscono la creazione di reti fittizie con il nome della rete a cui si connette il cliente. La causa del problema \u00e8 la definizione nel standard di situazioni in cui l'SSID pu\u00f2 non essere autenticato. In particolare, per segnalare la propria presenza, l'access point invia in broadcasting dei beacon frame che includono informazioni sulla rete SSID. Per semplificare il processo di ricerca della rete, i clienti non autenticano l'SSID nei dati di quei frame, poich\u00e9 si presume che la verifica sia necessaria solo dopo che il cliente decide di connettersi alla rete.    <\/p>\n<p>Per eseguire con successo un attacco, \u00e8 necessario che l'utente avvii una connessione a una determinata rete wireless, mentre nelle vicinanze si trovi un'altra rete wireless con le stesse impostazioni di connessione della prima rete. Questo accade, ad esempio, quando per le bande 2.4GHz e 5GHz vengono create reti diverse, una delle quali \u00e8 poco protetta e vulnerabile a tipici attacchi di intercettazione del traffico, come KRACK o Frag. Una configurazione problematica si riscontra anche in alcune reti universitarie che supportano il servizio Eduroam. L'attaccante deve trovarsi all'interno del raggio del segnale per potersi inserire tra l'utente e la rete target (MitM). Per eseguire l'attacco, il malintenzionato non ha bisogno di conoscere le credenziali della vittima.        <\/p>\n<p>L'attacco consiste nella creazione da parte dell'attaccante di un punto di accesso (WrongAP nel diagramma), che garantisce su un altro canale la trasmissione delle richieste verso una rete compromessa e meno protetta (WrongNet), a cui il cliente deve connettersi invece della rete desiderata (TrustedNet). Il punto di accesso pu\u00f2 essere creato su un normale laptop ed \u00e8 utilizzato per organizzare un attacco MitM multicanale sulla vittima (MC MitM). L'attacco si svolge in tre fasi:    <\/p>\n<li class=\"l\"> Scoperta della rete (Network Discovery). Il sistema MitM intercetta i pacchetti trasmessi nell'aria dalla vittima e dal punto di accesso fidato (TrustedNet), sostituendo al loro interno l'SSID: nei pacchetti provenienti dal punto di accesso, l'SSID viene sostituito con l'identificativo di una rete meno protetta, mentre nelle risposte della vittima con quello reale, per simulare l'interazione tra il cliente e il punto di accesso fidato. Di conseguenza, il dispositivo della vittima riceve risposte e crede che la rete cercata sia nelle vicinanze, anche se queste risposte vengono trasmesse dal punto di accesso dell'attaccante.\n<li class=\"l\"> Dirottamento dell'autenticazione. L'attaccante simula un'autenticazione riuscita e costringe il cliente a connettersi a una rete meno sicura, anzich\u00e9 a una di fiducia. Come nella fase precedente, l'attaccante intercetta i pacchetti inviati durante l'autenticazione dal cliente, sostituisce l'SSID e lo reinvia all'access point.\n<li class=\"l\"> MitM. Dopo aver stabilito il canale di comunicazione, l'attaccante sostituisce l'SSID da WrongNet a TrustedNet, creando l'illusione che l'utente stia operando tramite una rete di fiducia, invece che tramite una rete meno sicura.                                      <center><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Attacco SSID Confusion, che permette di sostituire la rete Wi-Fi\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/61f99d8f551828c4300bd9b1b498617a.jpg\" style=\"display:block;margin: 0 auto;\" \/><\/center>\n<p>Sfruttando una vulnerabilit\u00e0, l'attaccante pu\u00f2 costringere il cliente a connettersi a una rete meno sicura, mentre nell'interfaccia viene visualizzato l'SSID della rete a cui l'utente intendeva inizialmente connettersi, piuttosto che quella a cui \u00e8 effettivamente connesso. Una volta connesso tramite una rete non sicura, l'attaccante pu\u00f2 analizzare e infiltrarsi nei flussi di traffico non criptati. Durante ci\u00f2, l'uso di alcuni <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/prohoster.info\/it\/vpn\/\"   title=\"VPN\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"142\">VPN<\/a>, come WARP, hide.me e Windscribe, non attiver\u00e0 la VPN quando ci si connette a reti contrassegnate nelle impostazioni come di fiducia.    <\/p>\n<p>L'attacco \u00e8 applicabile ai protocolli di autenticazione wireless che utilizzano EAP (Extensible Authentication Protocol), SAE (Simultaneous Authentication of Equals) e 802.1X, cos\u00ec come in modalit\u00e0 opzionale del protocollo WPA3, dove l'SSID non viene utilizzato nella formazione della chiave PMK (Pairwise Master Key). Questo \u00e8 fatto per escludere dati inizialmente conosciuti nella generazione della chiave al fine di proteggere da vari attacchi crittografici. Il protocollo FILS (Fast Initial Link Setup) \u00e8 vulnerabile quando si utilizza PMK creato durante la negoziazione della connessione basata su EAP. I protocolli WPA1, WPA2 e FT (Fast BSS Transition) non sono soggetti a questo problema poich\u00e9 richiedono un SSID corretto durante la negoziazione della connessione.      <\/p>\n<p>Per proteggersi dagli attacchi di Confusione SSID sul lato access point, viene menzionata l'inclusione nel standard 802.11 dei requisiti di autenticazione SSID durante la connessione, che pu\u00f2 essere realizzata attraverso l'aggiunta dell'SSID nella funzione di generazione della chiave o includendo l'SSID tra i dati aggiuntivi controllati durante la negoziazione della connessione. Sul lato client, la protezione pu\u00f2 essere organizzata garantendo la protezione dei frame beacon (che sar\u00e0 utilizzata in WiFi 7). I creatori di reti possono prevenire attacchi rinunciando all'uso di credenziali condivise in reti con diversi SSID. Gli utenti possono proteggersi utilizzando VPN affidabili quando si connettono a qualsiasi rete wireless.          <center><div class=\"youtube-placeholder\" data-id=\"VKJwek9eCig\"
