Gli sviluppatori del pacchetto multimediale FFMpeg hanno annunciato la creazione di una propria implementazione del decoder per il formato di codifica audio xHE-AAC (Extended High-Efficiency AAC), definito nello standard ISO\/IEC 23003-3. Il decoder xHE-AAC \u00e8 gi\u00e0 stato integrato nella base di codice principale di FFMpeg e far\u00e0 parte della prossima versione. L'implementazione potr\u00e0 essere utilizzata per la maggior parte dei flussi stereo xHE-AAC.
