Theo de Raadt ha apportato una modifica al codice di OpenBSD-current, che forma la base per il prossimo importante rilascio, rimuovendo il client DHCP dhclient. Al suo posto, si consiglia di utilizzare un processo in background sempre attivo, dhcpleased, fornito a partire da OpenBSD 6.9 e che utilizza l'utilit\u00e0 ifconfig per abilitare la configurazione automatica delle interfacce di rete tramite DHCP (attivata avviando 'ifconfig $if autoconf' o aggiungendo 'inet autoconf' in \/etc\/hostname.$if). A partire da OpenBSD 7.0, il processo in background dhcpleased \u00e8 stato abilitato di default, mentre l'utilit\u00e0 dhclient \u00e8 stata spostata tra le opzioni.
