Questa modalit\u00e0 ha elevati privilegi ed \u00e8 progettata per eseguire funzioni critiche del sistema. Gli aggressori possono utilizzare Sinkclose per inserire codice dannoso nei livelli pi\u00f9 profondi del firmware, modificando la configurazione SMM, rendendo praticamente impossibile la sua individuazione e rimozione.<\/p>\n<p>Enrique Nissim e Krzysztof Okupski di IOActive, che hanno scoperto la vulnerabilit\u00e0, intendono parlarne in dettaglio alla prossima conferenza dei hacker Defcon, in programma domani. Secondo loro, Sinkclose riguarda praticamente tutti i processori AMD rilasciati dal 2006 in poi, e forse anche prima. <\/p>\n<p><center><\/center> <\/p>\n<p>I ricercatori avvertono che, per sfruttare la vulnerabilit\u00e0, gli hacker necessitano di un certo livello di accesso al computer o server basato su AMD, ma poi Sinkclose consentir\u00e0 loro di inserire codice dannoso ancora pi\u00f9 in profondit\u00e0. Nella maggior parte dei sistemi testati, dove la funzione di sicurezza Platform Secure Boot \u00e8 implementata in modo errato, il virus installato tramite Sinkclose sar\u00e0 praticamente impossibile da rilevare e rimuovere, anche dopo la reinstallazione del sistema operativo.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abImmaginate che degli hacker dei servizi segreti o qualcun altro voglia installarsi nel vostro sistema. Anche se pulite completamente il disco rigido, il virus rimarr\u00e0 comunque\u00bb, afferma Okupski. Secondo lui, l'unico modo per rimuovere un virus del genere \u00e8 collegarsi fisicamente alla memoria del computer usando un programmatore SPI Flash e scansionarla accuratamente. \u00abNel peggiore dei casi dovrete semplicemente buttare via il computer\u00bb, riassume Nissim.<\/p>\n<p>In una dichiarazione per Wired, la societ\u00e0 AMD <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.amd.com\/en\/resources\/product-security\/bulletin\/amd-sb-7014.html\" target=\"_blank\">ha confermato<\/a><\/noindex> Il ritrovamento di IOActive ha ringraziato i ricercatori e ha comunicato di aver gi\u00e0 rilasciato delle patch per i processori EPYC e Ryzen, mentre per i sistemi embedded le patch saranno disponibili a breve. Tuttavia, AMD non ha rivelato i dettagli su come verr\u00e0 corretta la vulnerabilit\u00e0 Sinkclose e per quali dispositivi.<\/p>\n<p>Allo stesso tempo, AMD sottolinea la complessit\u00e0 di sfruttare questa vulnerabilit\u00e0, poich\u00e9 per utilizzarla un attaccante deve avere accesso al kernel del sistema operativo.
