Theo de Raadt ha annunciato il raggiungimento da parte del progetto OpenBSD di un traguardo in cui tutto il codice importato nel 1995 \u00e8 stato modificato: non esiste pi\u00f9 alcun file originale non modificato o non rimosso della base di codice originale. L'ultimo componente non modificato era un gioco quiz, in cui a giorni la verifica delle conoscenze relative alla Grecia \u00e8 stata sostituita dalla verifica della terminologia legata alle navi. Il progetto OpenBSD \u00e8 stato fondato da Theo de Raadt nel 1995 dopo un conflitto con gli sviluppatori di NetBSD, che ha portato alla chiusura dell'accesso al repository CVS di NetBSD per Theo. Successivamente, Theo de Raadt e un gruppo di sostenitori hanno creato un nuovo sistema operativo open source basato sull'albero del codice sorgente di NetBSD, con l'obiettivo principale di garantire portabilit\u00e0, standardizzazione, corretto funzionamento, sicurezza proattiva e strumenti crittografici integrati.
