Nel codice sorgente, su cui si basa l'uscita programmata di Firefox 131 per il 1 ottobre, è inclusa di default la funzione di supporto del meccanismo dei Text Fragments, che consente di creare collegamenti esterni per navigare verso posizioni arbitrarie del testo in una pagina senza aggiungere etichette alla pagina. <a name> e senza collegamenti a identificatori di elementi. La posizione viene determinata tramite una maschera di testo incorporata nel collegamento. <\/p>\n

Ad esempio, quando si fa clic sul link «https:\/\/opennet.me\/61785#:~:text=TextFragments», il browser scorre la pagina fino alla posizione della frase «Text Fragments» e la evidenzia con un colore. Oltre alla semplice maschera, \u00e8 possibile definire le maschere per l'inizio e la fine del testo evidenziato, nonch\u00e9 collegarsi a maschere precedenti e successive utilizzate per evidenziare il frammento desiderato in caso di pi\u00f9 corrispondenze nella pagina.
