\u00c8 uscita la nuova versione di dd_rescue 1.99.17, uno strumento per il recupero di dati da supporti danneggiati, backup e distribuzione di immagini disco. Non va confuso con l'utilit\u00e0 GNU ddrescue, poich\u00e9 dd_rescue offre funzionalit\u00e0 aggiuntive utili, come il supporto per file sparsi, input\/output bypassando la cache, compressione e crittografia trasparenti. L'utility dd_rescue \u00e8 inclusa in molte distribuzioni popolari di GNU\/Linux, come Fedora, openSUSE, Mageia e ALT Linux. Il codice dell'utility \u00e8 scritto in C e distribuito sotto licenza GPLv2+. <\/p>\n

Nella nuova versione \u00e8 stato aggiunto il supporto per la compressione e la decompressione trasparenti utilizzando l'algoritmo LZMA, che consente, tra l'altro, di utilizzare immagini disco compresse in formato xz. L'uso dell'algoritmo LZMA mostra un livello di compressione pi\u00f9 elevato, a fronte di un aumento del carico sulla CPU, rispetto all'algoritmo LZO precedentemente utilizzato. Come implementazione dell'algoritmo LZMA \u00e8 stata scelta la libreria liblzma, divenuta tristemente famosa dopo la scoperta di un backdoor inserita da un malintenzionato che ha ottenuto lo status di manutentore. La patch con l'implementazione del supporto LZMA in dd_rescue \u00e8 stata preparata da Dmitrij Ivanov dell'Universit\u00e0 Nazionale di Ricerca Situata Economica (Higher School of Economics).
