Attualmente, Lima pu\u00f2 essere utilizzato su macOS, Linux, Windows e sistemi BSD. L'obiettivo principale del progetto \u00e8 fornire un modo semplice per eseguire vari distribuzioni Linux in contenitori isolati o ambienti virtuali, garantendo al contempo il reindirizzamento automatico delle porte di rete e la condivisione dei file. Il codice del progetto \u00e8 stato scritto in linguaggio Go e distribuito con licenza Apache 2.0.      <\/p>\n<p>Per il lancio isolato di ambienti Linux nei sistemi Linux e BSD, possono essere utilizzati runtime containerd e vari motori di isolamento dei container (Apptainer, Docker, Podman, LXD). Su macOS viene utilizzato QEMU con l'acceleratore HVF o gli strumenti di virtualizzazione nativi per macOS, Virtualization.framework. Per eseguire ambienti Linux su Windows, si impiega il sottosistema WSL2 (Windows Subsystem for Linux). \u00c8 supportato il lancio di distribuzioni Linux compile per architettura x86_64 su sistemi host con architettura ARM64 e viceversa. In modalit\u00e0 sperimentale \u00e8 previsto il supporto per architetture riscv64 e ARM32.     <\/p>\n<p>Per organizzare l'accesso ai file nell'ambiente di hosting, possono essere utilizzati SSHFS, virtio-9p-pci\/virtfs (di default) e virtiofs. Il reindirizzamento delle porte di rete avviene monitorando le connessioni di rete tramite \/proc\/net\/tcp e iptables, con successivo avvio automatico di \"ssh\" con l'opzione \"-L\". Tra le funzionalit\u00e0 sperimentali \u00e8 disponibile il passaggio dell'accesso al sistema audio ALSA e l'organizzazione di una connessione remota tramite VNC.      <\/p>\n<p>Per un rapido deployment degli ambienti, sono disponibili modelli preparati per diverse versioni delle distribuzioni AlmaLinux, Alpine, Arch Linux, Debian, Fedora, Gentoo, openSUSE, Oracle Linux, Rocky e Ubuntu. Per creare le proprie immagini di sistema, si consiglia di utilizzare lo strumento BuildKit. La possibilit\u00e0 di utilizzare Lima per avviare ambienti Linux \u00e8 integrata negli strumenti Finch (Amazon), Rancher Desktop (SUSE), Colima e Podman Desktop (Red Hat). Nei sistemi a partire da macOS 13.5, il driver vz \u00e8 ora utilizzato per impostazione predefinita. Sono stati inoltre stabilizzati il driver 9p per la condivisione di file e il driver user-v2 per l'accesso di rete. \u00c8 stata aggiunta la supporto per il forwarding delle porte UDP.
