Andreas H\u00fcttel (Andreas K. Huettel) del team responsabile del rilascio di Gentoo Linux (Release Engineering team) ha annunciato l'inizio della creazione di immagini disco sperimentali di Gentoo nel formato QCOW2, che consentono di ottenere un ambiente di sistema completamente funzionante, pronto per il boot in macchine virtuali. Le immagini verranno aggiornate settimanalmente, permettendo di utilizzarle per valutare lo stato attuale della distribuzione. In precedenza, il progetto distribuiva solo immagini di installazione e una build Live per l'avvio da dispositivi USB. <\/p>\n

Sono disponibili due versioni delle immagini con interfaccia a console per il download: una completa (1,2 GB) e una ridotta senza multilib (233 MB).
