Linus Torvalds ha approvato nel kernel Linux una modifica che rimuove l'implementazione del filesystem ReiserFS. Questo filesystem era stato dichiarato obsoleto lo scorso anno e la sua rimozione \u00e8 prevista per il 2025.<\/p>\n

La modifica \u00e8 stata accettata nel ramo da cui si sviluppa il kernel 6.13 (il rilascio \u00e8 previsto per inizio febbraio). La ragione principale della rimozione di ReiserFS \u00e8 stata la volont\u00e0 di ridurre il carico di lavoro per la manutenzione delle modifiche nel kernel che coinvolgono vari filesystem, come il passaggio a una nuova API per il montaggio, iomap e folios. La base utenti di ReiserFS \u00e8 valutata come trascurabile.<\/p>\n

Tra i problemi con ReiserFS si segnalavano anche la stagnazione nel supporto di questo file system, il problema irrisolto del 2038 e l'assenza di funzionalit\u00e0 per garantire l'affidabilit\u00e0, offerte dai file system moderni per proteggere da corruzione in caso di crash o compromissione. L'ultimo grande distribuzione che supportava ReiserFS \u00e8 stato openSUSE, ma due anni fa gli sviluppatori di openSUSE hanno interrotto il supporto di questo file system nel repository Tumbleweed. In SUSE, il supporto per ReiserFS \u00e8 stato interrotto 6 anni fa. \u00c8 stata inviata una richiesta di pull per rimuovere ReiserFS dal kernel 6.13 da parte di un dipendente dell'azienda SUSE.<\/p>\n
