Il gruppo di sviluppatori del sistema operativo Haiku ha preparato e adottato la pubblicazione del primo porting pubblico del browser Mozilla Firefox. Grazie agli sforzi congiunti durante il processo di porting, sono state apportate modifiche sia al sistema di base che ad altri porting utilizzati, come il layer Wayland per Haiku, preparato dallo sviluppatore x512. <\/p>\n

A causa della mancanza di risposta da parte di Mozilla, che vieta l'uso dei propri marchi nel processo di compilazione da codice sorgente diverso dall'originale, \u00e8 stata presa la decisione di fornire il browser sotto un nome alternativo, IceWeasel, precedentemente scelto dal progetto GNU per il proprio fork di Firefox. <\/p>\n

La pubblicazione del porting per il pubblico \u00e8 stata motivata dalla necessit\u00e0 di garantire la riproduzione dei media, la capacit\u00e0 di uscita audio e il supporto JIT. \u00c8 importante notare che il porting \u00e8 ancora di natura sperimentale e presenta problemi noti, come artefatti grafici causati dalle imperfezioni del layer Wayland, e non supporta alcune funzionalit\u00e0 come WebRTC.
