Il gruppo di sviluppatori del sistema operativo Haiku ha preparato e pubblicato il primo porting pubblico del browser Mozilla Firefox. Grazie a sforzi congiunti durante la preparazione del porting, sono stati apportati cambiamenti sia al sistema di base che agli altri porting utilizzati, come il layer Wayland per Haiku, sviluppato dal programmatore x512. <\/p>\n

A causa della mancanza di reazione da parte di Mozilla, che vieta l'uso dei propri marchi commerciali durante la compilazione da codice sorgente diverso dall'originale, \u00e8 stata presa la decisione di rilasciare il browser con un nome alternativo, IceWeasel, precedentemente scelto dal progetto GNU per il suo fork di Firefox. <\/p>\n

La ragione della pubblicazione del porting per il grande pubblico \u00e8 stata la possibilit\u00e0 di riprodurre media, oltre alla possibilit\u00e0 di output audio e al supporto JIT. Vale la pena notare che il porting ha ancora un carattere sperimentale e presenta problemi noti, come artefatti grafici causati dalle imperfezioni del layer Wayland, e non supporta alcune funzionalit\u00e0, come WebRTC.
