Ad esempio, sulle CPU Intel Emerald Rapids, le operazioni con CPUID si svolgono da 3 a 4 volte pi\u00f9 lentamente rispetto alle CPU Intel Skylake. Questa specificit\u00e0 ha portato a un degrado delle performance nell'ipercontrollore KVM, che utilizza CPUID nel processo di salvataggio e ripristino dello stato del processore a ogni passaggio di controllo alla macchina virtuale, in caso di utilizzo di virtualizzazione nidificata. Per risolvere il problema, \u00e8 stato adottato un patch ridotto nella rama del kernel 6.13, che consente di ridurre fino al 40% il tempo di operazione anche su CPU della famiglia Skylake, grazie alla memorizzazione nella cache di CPUID. La versione completa del patch sar\u00e0 presentata nel kernel 6.14, per migliorare ulteriormente le prestazioni.      <\/p>\n<p>Inoltre, si segnala la discussione nel mailing list degli sviluppatori del kernel Linux riguardo la cessazione del supporto per i sistemi a 32 bit nell'ipercontrollore. <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/prohoster.info\/it\/vps\/abuzoustojchivye-vps\/\"   title=\"KVM\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"4435\">KVM<\/a>Inizialmente era stato proposto un patch per rimuovere il supporto per la virtualizzazione KVM sulla piattaforma x86-32. In risposta, sono state espresse preoccupazioni che il supporto per x86-32 potrebbe essere utile per testare il funzionamento della modalit\u00e0 host in generale sui sistemi a 32 bit, poich\u00e9 nel kernel rimangono altre tre architetture a 32 bit supportate in KVM. In risposta \u00e8 stata presentata un'altra patch, questa volta rimuovendo da KVM il supporto per tutti i sistemi a 32 bit.    <\/p>\n<p>Il desiderio di eliminare il supporto per i sistemi a 32 bit \u00e8 giustificato dal fatto che anche su processori ARM a 32 bit di massa, come l'ARM Cortex A7, la virtualizzazione non ha ricevuto sviluppo e utilizzo. <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/prohoster.info\/it\/vps\/\"   title=\"macchine virtuali\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"2194\">macchine virtuali<\/a> Sui sistemi a 32 bit ARM l'uso \u00e8 stato cos\u00ec raro che il supporto per tali sistemi in KVM \u00e8 stato rimosso nel 2020 senza sollevare obiezioni. Si sottolinea che per gli altri sistemi a 32 bit, le modifiche riguarderanno solo piattaforme esotiche, che non vengono pi\u00f9 utilizzate nella pratica o che non sono mai state popolari. Tra i processori interessati dalla patch figurano: Intel Core Duo\/Silverthorne, PowerPC e300\/e500\/e600 e MIPS P5600.
