Nella base di codice utilizzata per la creazione della release Mesa 25.0, \u00e8 stata integrata la layer amdgpu_virtio, che consente al sistema ospite di utilizzare i driver OpenGL e Vulkan radeonsi, radeonsi_drv_video e radv forniti dall'ambiente host. L'accesso avviene tramite VirtIO, garantendo elevate prestazioni di accelerazione 3D nella macchina virtuale. Attualmente, l'uso del driver \u00e8 possibile solo con QEMU+KVM. <\/p>\n

Si afferma che le prestazioni di amdgpu_virtio siano superiori a quelle dei driver virgl e venus, precedentemente sviluppati per accedere a Vulkan e OpenGL dai sistemi ospiti. Durante i test Unigine Heaven e Superposition, le prestazioni nei sistemi ospiti hanno raggiunto circa il 99% rispetto a quelle eseguite sul lato host. Tra i vantaggi del nuovo metodo si segnala anche la semplificazione della manutenzione, poich\u00e9 nel sistema ospite vengono utilizzati gli stessi driver di un ambiente non virtualizzato, tranne per il fatto che invece di accedere direttamente a libdrm (amdgpu), si utilizza un layer aggiuntivo basato su VirtIO.
