\u00c8 stata identificata una vulnerabilit\u00e0 nella libreria di rendering dei font FreeType (CVE-2025-27363), che potrebbe portare all'esecuzione di codice durante l'elaborazione di file appositamente formattati con font variabili o font nel formato TrueType GX. Il problema si manifesta solo nelle versioni di FreeType fino alla 2.13.0 inclusa ed \u00e8 stato risolto nella versione 2.13.1 (giugno 2023). Si ritiene che la vulnerabilit\u00e0 sia stata gi\u00e0 sfruttata in attacchi precedenti. <\/p>\n

La vulnerabilit\u00e0 \u00e8 causata da un overflow del buffer che si verifica durante l'analisi delle strutture subglyph nei caratteri. L'overflow si verifica a causa dell'assegnazione a una variabile di tipo «signed short», coinvolta nel calcolo della dimensione del buffer, di un valore di tipo «unsigned long», il che pu\u00f2 portare a un overflow intero e a un'allocazione di buffer di dimensioni errate. Successivamente, all'esterno di questo buffer vengono scritti almeno 6 interi segni di tipo «long». <\/p>\n

\u00c8 possibile monitorare la comparsa degli aggiornamenti nelle distribuzioni alle seguenti pagine: Debian, Ubuntu, RHEL, SUSE\/openSUSE, Fedora, Arch, FreeBSD. Secondo le statistiche delle versioni utilizzate, le versioni vulnerabili di FreeType sono presenti nelle distribuzioni Amazon Linux 2, Debian stable \/ Devuan, RHEL 8 e 9 (+ CentOS Stream e distribuzioni derivate), GNU Guix, Mageia, OpenMandriva, openSUSE Leap, Slackware e Ubuntu 22.04.
