Come ha dichiarato il CEO di Microsoft Satya Nadella, attualmente sono in corso lavori per adattare la parte userspace del popolare sistema operativo Windows al nuovo ibrido kernel proprietario, basato su codice sorgente del kernel del sistema operativo FreeBSD. Una delle principali ragioni di questa decisione sono i crescenti problemi di supporto del kernel NT, che non \u00e8 pi\u00f9 in linea con le attuali esigenze, e la crescente popolarit\u00e0 dei kernel simili a NIX nei segmenti dei dispositivi mobili e IoT.<\/p>\n

Si prevede che, oltre alle tradizionali chiamate di sistema tipiche dei sistemi BSD, il nuovo kernel avr\u00e0 anche un'interfaccia alternativa basata su COM\/WinRPC per interagire con il codice utente.
