La distribuzione \u00e8 costruita sulla base di pacchetti Debian ed \u00e8 disponibile in build per pi\u00f9 di 50 schede. DietPi pu\u00f2 anche essere utilizzato per creare ambienti compatti per macchine virtuali e PC standard basati su architettura x86_64. Le build per le schede hanno dimensioni ridotte (circa 130 MB) rispetto a Raspberry Pi OS e Armbian. Gli strumenti per la costruzione e la manutenzione della distribuzione sono distribuiti sotto licenza GPLv2.    <\/p>\n<p>Il progetto \u00e8 ottimizzato per un consumo minimo di risorse e sviluppa diverse utility proprie: interfaccia per l'installazione delle applicazioni DietPi-Software, configuratore DietPi-Config, sistema di backup DietPi-Backup, meccanismo di registrazione temporanea DietPi-Ramlog (supporta anche rsyslog), interfaccia per l'assegnazione delle priorit\u00e0 di esecuzione dei processi DietPi-Services e sistema di consegna degli aggiornamenti DietPi-Update.
