L'iniziativa per trasformare GNOME OS da una distribuzione per testatori e sviluppatori GNOME a una distribuzione di uso generale, adatta per l'uso quotidiano da parte degli utenti comuni, \u00e8 entrata in una nuova fase. \u00c8 stata annunciata la disponibilit\u00e0 delle versioni notturne di GNOME OS per il test da parte di sviluppatori e utenti avanzati. L'obiettivo principale del testing \u00e8 migliorare il sistema utilizzando GNOME OS come sistema operativo principale su hardware reale. <\/p>\n

GNOME OS utilizza il componente systemd-sysupdate per gestire aggiornamenti atomici del sistema e il formato dei pacchetti flatpak per installare programmi aggiuntivi. Per l'installazione \u00e8 stato utilizzato un prototipo di installer, che attualmente non include tutte le funzionalit\u00e0 previste. La dimensione dell'immagine iso proposta per il download \u00e8 di 1,9 GB. <\/p>\n

Per incentivare il test di GNOME OS \u00e8 stato istituito un concorso, il cui vincitore ricever\u00e0 uno smartphone OnePlus 6 con firmware basato su postmarketOS. Sar\u00e0 considerato vincitore l'utente che accumuler\u00e0 il punteggio pi\u00f9 alto, calcolato come segue: 10 punti per l'uso quotidiano di GNOME OS su un computer principale per almeno 4 settimane; 1 punto per ogni segnalazione di errore corretta; 3 punti per ogni richiesta di modifica accettata; 5 punti per ogni risoluzione di un problema segnalato nel sistema di tracciamento degli errori.
