L'azienda Meta* ha pubblicato la release della libreria grafica IGL 1.1 (Intermediate Graphics Library), che fornisce un'API a basso livello universale per la gestione delle GPU. L'API IGL copre la funzionalit\u00e0 standard delle GPU e consente di creare applicazioni multipiattaforma in grado di funzionare sopra le API grafiche OpenGL, Metal e Vulkan su sistemi Android, iOS, Linux, macOS e Windows, oltre a utilizzare WebGL per il rendering nel web quando si compila l'applicazione in codice intermedio WebAssembly. La libreria IGL \u00e8 scritta in C++ ed \u00e8 distribuita sotto licenza MIT. <\/p>\n

Per il rendering sono forniti backend per le API Metal 2+, OpenGL 2.x, OpenGL 3.1+, OpenGL ES 2.0+, Vulkan 1.1 e WebGL 2.0. La libreria \u00e8 adatta per lo sviluppo di giochi, sistemi di modellazione 3D e qualsiasi altro progetto che richieda supporto per grafiche di alta qualit\u00e0. Il codice IGL \u00e8 ottimizzato per ottenere il massimo delle prestazioni anche con modelli complessi e dettagliati. <\/p>\n

La struttura dell'API \u00e8 stata progettata tenendo conto della facilit\u00e0 d'uso e implementa concetti standard che la maggior parte degli sviluppatori, familiari con uno dei API grafiche, pu\u00f2 comprendere. A livello di astrazione, IGL \u00e8 simile a Vulkan e WebGPU, ma privo delle specificit\u00e0 legate a motori particolari. La libreria supporta l'integrazione di estensioni che permettono di aggiungere funzionalit\u00e0 aggiuntive e soddisfare esigenze non standard degli sviluppatori. <\/p>\n
