Durante i test, TPDE-LLVM si \u00e8 dimostrato da 10 a 20 volte pi\u00f9 veloce rispetto al backend LLVM -O0 (generatore di codice senza ottimizzazioni) mantenendo lo stesso livello di prestazioni del codice macchina risultante e un aumento delle dimensioni del 10-30%. I risultati del progetto sono stati pubblicati con licenza Apache 2.0.    <\/p>\n<p>TPDE-LLVM \u00e8 inizialmente mirato a garantire compilazioni con ritardi minimi e un livello di qualit\u00e0 corrispondente alla modalit\u00e0 di compilazione senza ottimizzazioni (\u00ab-O0\u00bb). TPDE-LLVM si concentra esclusivamente sulla velocit\u00e0 di compilazione e non cerca di competere con i backend ottimizzatori di LLVM, che rispetto a TPDE-LLVM sono sostanzialmente pi\u00f9 lenti, ma permettono di generare codice macchina pi\u00f9 veloce e compatto (circa 2 volte pi\u00f9 veloce e 2 volte pi\u00f9 piccolo).     <\/p>\n<p>TPDE-LLVM utilizza tre fasi per la generazione del codice:   <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> Pulizia e preparazione della rappresentazione intermedia LLVM;\n<li> Analisi delle informazioni sui cicli e sull'uso delle variabili;\n<li> Formazione di codice macchina.   <\/ul>\n<p>  <center><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Presentato il backend TPDE-LLVM, che lavora da 10 a 20 volte pi\u00f9 veloce di LLVM in modalit\u00e0 non ottimizzata\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/944e734dee08a32799457c0ce5438e57.png\" style=\"display:block;margin: 0 auto;\" \/><\/center>        <\/p>\n<p>Si segnala che, con il coinvolgimento degli autori di TPDE, sono gi\u00e0 state aggiunte ottimizzazioni alle versioni 19 e 20 di LLVM, che hanno consentito di accelerare il lavoro del backend standard di LLVM del 18% sulla piattaforma x86-64 e del 13% sulla piattaforma ARM64. Secondo gli autori di TPDE, in futuro sar\u00e0 possibile migliorare ulteriormente il backend di LLVM di un altro 10-20% con relativamente poco sforzo, ma ulteriori aumenti delle prestazioni richiederanno cambiamenti significativi. Anche con una revisione sostanziale, \u00e8 improbabile che il backend esistente di LLVM possa essere accelerato di 10 volte.      <\/p>\n<p>Nella fase attuale di sviluppo, tra gli obiettivi del progetto TPDE \u00e8 prevista la fornitura di supporto per la rappresentazione intermedia del codice LLVM, ottenuta tramite il frontend Clang nelle modalit\u00e0 di ottimizzazione \u2018-O0\u2019 e \u2018-O1\u2019.
