Ariadne Conill, creatore del lettore musicale Audacious, promotore dello sviluppo del protocollo IRCv3 e leader del team di sicurezza di Alpine Linux, ha pubblicato una prima implementazione di un layer Wayback, che consente di eseguire ambienti desktop basati sul protocollo X11 utilizzando componenti basati su Wayland.
