Alla fine di giugno, Igor ha pubblicato una recensione delle capacit\u00e0 di KDE Plasma 6.4, in cui conclude che la sessione basata su Wayland \u00e8 meno performante e carica maggiormente CPU e GPU rispetto alla sessione su X11. In una serie di nuovi articoli, Igor ha cercato di testare pi\u00f9 a fondo le performance di entrambe le sessioni.    <\/p>\n<p>Inizialmente \u00e8 stato osservato che durante i test su un laptop Lenovo IdeaPad 3 con GPU integrata AMD, nella sessione Wayland, indipendentemente dall'attivit\u00e0 della CPU, c'\u00e8 un carico costante di circa l'8%, con picchi ogni 2-3 secondi che sovraccaricano completamente la GPU. Nella sessione X11, il carico su CPU e GPU durante l'inattivit\u00e0 era pari a zero. Un ulteriore controllo con l'utility radeontop ha mostrato un maggiore consumo di risorse nella sessione Wayland, soprattutto attivando il profilo 'Color Accuracy' nelle impostazioni dello schermo. In generale, \u00e8 stato concluso che la sessione X11 consuma dal 3% al 7% in meno della batteria rispetto a Wayland.    <\/p>\n<p>Il controllo del carico sulla CPU con l'utilit\u00e0 vmstat ha mostrato che durante l'inattivit\u00e0 la sessione X11 consumava l'1,83% della CPU, mentre Wayland \u2014 l'1,97% (2,1% con il profilo di Precisione del Colore). L'utilit\u00e0 \u00e8 stata eseguita su sessioni appena create nel terminale Konsole, calcolando il valore medio con campionamento al secondo per un periodo di 60 secondi. Il carico sulla CPU utilizzando Wayland si \u00e8 rivelato superiore del 7,6% (in modalit\u00e0 Precisione del Colore del 14%) rispetto all'uso della sessione X11. KWin_wayland consumava circa l'1% (1,5%) del tempo della CPU, mentre KWin_X11 \u2014 lo 0,44%. Le invocazioni a amdgpu rappresentavano lo 0,77% (1%) per Wayland e lo 0,65% per X11. I risultati si sono rivelati pressoch\u00e9 identici \u2014 la sessione Wayland si \u00e8 dimostrata meno efficiente rispetto a X11. Il consumo energetico era di 22,42 watt in Wayland e 21,86 in X11, il carico sulla CPU in modalit\u00e0 inattiva era di 0,067 contro 0,050, il numero di cambi di contesto \u2014 43.835\/s contro 34.133\/s, il carico durante la visione di video 4K in VLC \u2014 12,54% contro 4,26%, le prestazioni di WebGL \u2014 16 FPS contro 29 FPS.    <\/p>\n<p>Successivamente, test simili sono stati riprodotti su un laptop Lenovo IdeaPad 3 con CPU\/GPU AMD utilizzando una fresh build del progetto KDE Neon. Nel test di riproduzione video 4K in VLC, il carico sulla CPU usando X11 con il compositing disattivato \u00e8 stato del 3.72%, X11 con il compositing attivato \u2014 9.8%, Wayland con Color Accuracy (CA) \u2014 25.71%, Wayland in modalit\u00e0 di efficient consumption (PE) \u2014 31.51%. Pertanto, il carico sulla CPU utilizzando Wayland si \u00e8 rivelato 8-10 volte superiore rispetto a X11.     <\/p>\n<p>Utilizzando Wayland, \u00e8 stata anche registrata una generazione di interruzioni dal 5 al 16% maggiore. La differenza nel carico sulla GPU \u00e8 stata nell'ordine del 2%: Wayland (PE) \u2014 56.33%, Wayland (CA) \u2014 57.33%, X11 (Comp ON) \u2014 57.98%, X11 (Comp OFF) \u2014 56.81%. In termini di consumo energetico, Wayland ha consumato pi\u00f9 energia dal 8 al 49%: Wayland (PE) \u2014 13.8-20.4 watt, Wayland (CA) \u2014 13.8-14.1 watt, X11 (Comp ON) \u2014 10.7-12.1 watt, X11 (Comp OFF) \u2014 11.4-14.9 watt. Nel test WebGL Aquarium, i risultati per Wayland e X11 sono stati sostanzialmente simili: Wayland (PE) \u2014 16-38 FPS, Wayland (CA) \u2014 18-37 FPS, X11 (Comp ON) \u2014 16-42 FPS, X11 (Comp OFF) \u2014 21-42 FPS, ma il consumo energetico utilizzando Wayland \u00e8 risultato circa l'8% pi\u00f9 alto.    <\/p>\n<p>Alla fine \u00e8 stato condotto un ulteriore esperimento, questa volta coprendo GNOME di Fedora 42 e KDE Plasma 6.4 o KDE Neon. I test sono stati eseguiti su un laptop Lenovo IdeaPad 3 con CPU\/GPU AMD.  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Il carico sulla CPU in modalit\u00e0 inattiva: KDE X11 \u2014 1.83%, KDE Wayland (PE) \u2014 1.97%, KDE Wayland (CA) \u2014 2.1%, GNOME Wayland \u2014 2.2%.\n<li class=\"l\"> Consumo energetico in modalit\u00e0 inattiva con una finestra di terminale: KDE X11 \u2014 5.67-5.87 watt, KDE Wayland (CA) \u2014 6.05-6.08 watt, KDE Wayland (PE) \u2014 6.09 watt, GNOME Wayland \u2014 5.83-7.62 watt.\n<li class=\"l\"> Il carico sulla GPU in modalit\u00e0 inattiva \u00e8 risultato il pi\u00f9 basso nella configurazione con GNOME Wayland, ma la differenza \u00e8 spiegata dalla variet\u00e0 delle applicazioni in esecuzione, ovvero System Monitor e GNOME System Monitor.\n<li class=\"l\"> Nelle statistiche raccolte dall'utility perf, il minor tempo di CPU \u00e8 stato speso nella configurazione basata su GNOME.\n<li class=\"l\"> Nel test di riproduzione di video 4K 60FPS in VLC, la sessione GNOME in Fedora ha consumato un po' meno CPU (29.6%) rispetto a KDE basato su Wayland in modalit\u00e0 Color Accuracy (31.51%), ma di pi\u00f9 rispetto alla sessione KDE basata su X11 (9.8%) e a Wayland in modalit\u00e0 di efficienza energetica (25.71%).\n<li class=\"l\"> Nella valutazione del consumo delle risorse GPU, la sessione GNOME in Fedora durante il test di riproduzione video 4K 60FPS in VLC ha consumato pi\u00f9 risorse GPU. Ad esempio, il carico sul pipeline grafico GPU in GNOME su Fedora \u00e8 stato del 58.21%, in KDE su Wayland del 56.33% e 57.33%, mentre in KDE X11 \u00e8 stato del 57.98%. X11 \u00e8 ancora considerato la soluzione pi\u00f9 ottimale in termini di prestazioni. L'implementazione di Wayland in KDE \u00e8 presumibilmente migliore rispetto a quella in GNOME; la sessione GNOME Wayland, implementata in Fedora, sembra essere meno performante rispetto alla sessione
