Nella collezione di porte OpenBSD \u00e8 stata aggiunta l'ambiente desktop classico CDE (Common Desktop Environment), sviluppato all'inizio degli anni '90 da un consorzio di aziende come Sun Microsystems, HP, IBM, DEC, SCO, Fujitsu e Hitachi. Per molti anni \u00e8 stato fornito come ambiente grafico predefinito per Solaris, HP-UX, IBM AIX, Digital UNIX e UnixWare. Nel 2012 il codice CDE 2.1 \u00e8 stato rilasciato dal consorzio The Open Group sotto licenza LGPL. <\/p>\n

Il pacchetto include un gestore di accesso compatibile con XDMCP, un gestore delle sessioni utente, un gestore delle finestre, il pannello CDE FrontPanel, un gestore desktop, un bus per garantire la comunicazione interprocesso, un toolkit per desktop, strumenti per lo sviluppo di applicazioni in shell e C, componenti per l'integrazione di applicazioni di terze parti. Per la formazione dell'interfaccia \u00e8 stata utilizzata la libreria Motif.
