Le versioni intermedie della serie openSUSE Leap 16, che sar\u00e0 mantenuta parallelamente alla distribuzione commerciale SUSE Linux Enterprise 16, saranno disponibili fino all'autunno del 2031 \u2014 l'ultima sar\u00e0 la versione openSUSE Leap 16.6, per la quale gli aggiornamenti saranno rilasciati fino all'autunno del 2033. Come in passato, le nuove versioni significative della distribuzione saranno pubblicate annualmente.     <\/p>\n<p>Caratteristiche principali di openSUSE Leap 16:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> \u00c8 stato introdotto il nuovo installatore Agama, che si distingue per la separazione dell'interfaccia utente dai componenti interni di YaST e la fornitura di un frontend per la gestione dell'installazione tramite interfaccia web.     <\/li>\n<li class=\"l\"> Nell'installatore sono proposte solo le interfacce desktop che utilizzano Wayland.        <\/li>\n<li class=\"l\"> Invece del tradizionale stack YaST per la gestione del sistema, viene utilizzato il pacchetto Cockpit, mentre al posto dell'interfaccia grafica YaST Software \u00e8 stato introdotto il nuovo pacchetto Myrlyn.      <\/li>\n<li class=\"l\"> Per impostazione predefinita \u00e8 abilitato il sistema di controllo accesso obbligatorio SELinux. Il supporto per AppArmor \u00e8 mantenuto come opzione.      <\/li>\n<li class=\"l\"> Il supporto per gli script di inizializzazione SysV \u00e8 stato interrotto. \u00c8 possibile utilizzare solo unit\u00e0 systemd.    <\/li>\n<li class=\"l\"> Il supporto per l'architettura x86-64-v1 \u00e8 stato interrotto. L'operativit\u00e0 \u00e8 possibile solo su sistemi x86 con architettura x86_64-v2, supportata da processori a partire dal 2009 (a partire da Intel Nehalem) e caratterizzata dalla presenza di estensioni come SSE3, SSE4_2, SSSE3, POPCNT, LAHF-SAHF e CMPXCHG16B.\n<li class=\"l\"> Per impostazione predefinita, il kernel disabilita il supporto per i sistemi a 32 bit x86 e l'esecuzione di file eseguibili a 32 bit. Per continuare a utilizzare l'applicazione Steam, che esiste solo in versione a 32 bit e richiede le dipendenze a 32 bit installate nel sistema, in openSUSE \u00e8 stato implementato il pacchetto grub2-compat-ia32, che imposta il parametro \u00abia32_emulation=1\u00bb durante il caricamento del kernel Linux. Per far funzionare Steam \u00e8 anche necessaria l'installazione del pacchetto selinux-policy-targeted-gaming, che non \u00e8 incluso nella fornitura di base.\n<li class=\"l\"> Il pacchetto Wine \u00e8 disponibile solo in build a 64 bit, che utilizzano la modalit\u00e0 Wow64 (Windows-on-Windows a 64 bit) per eseguire applicazioni Windows a 32 bit in sistemi Unix a 64 bit.     <\/li>\n<li class=\"l\"> Per la gestione dei repository viene utilizzato un servizio basato sul protocollo RIS (Repository Index Service). Per ridurre la dimensione dei metadati, i repository sono suddivisi per ogni architettura supportata. Invece di avere pi\u00f9 repository, \u00e8 stato implementato un unico repository comune di pacchetti repo-oss, che include sia pacchetti da SUSE Linux Enterprise sia pacchetti forniti dalla comunit\u00e0.      <\/li>\n<li class=\"l\"> Nel gestore di pacchetti Zypper \u00e8 stato implementato il supporto per il caricamento parallelo di pacchetti e metadati, e \u00e8 stato proposto un nuovo backend che riutilizza in modo pi\u00f9 ottimale le connessioni gi\u00e0 installate, migliorando l'efficienza nel trattare i metadati. Durante l'aggiornamento di 250 pacchetti di dimensione totale di 100 MB, il tempo di caricamento dopo l'attivazione del nuovo backend e della modalit\u00e0 parallela \u00e8 stato ridotto da 68.7 secondi a 13.1 secondi, mentre durante l'aggiornamento di 407 pacchetti di dimensione 1 GB \u00e8 passato da 281.1 secondi a 119.6 secondi.\n<li class=\"l\"> Sono state aggiunte le versioni delle librerie pi\u00f9 popolari, come boost, openjpeg2, sqlite3, libgcrypt, openssl e zlib, compilate con ottimizzazioni per le nuove CPU. Il caricamento delle versioni ottimizzate sui sistemi con nuove CPU viene effettuato dal linker dalle sottodirectory glibc-hwcaps, create nelle aree FS esaminate durante la ricerca delle librerie.\n<li class=\"l\"> Per i sistemi con schede grafiche NVIDIA, i moduli del kernel open-source vengono utilizzati per default, e viene garantita l'installazione automatica dei componenti dell'utente necessari per accelerare le operazioni grafiche.\n<li class=\"l\"> Di default, invece di PulseAudio, viene utilizzato il multimedia. <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/prohoster.info\/it\/server\/\"   title=\"un server\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">un server<\/a> PipeWire.\n<li class=\"l\"> Per la configurazione delle connessioni di rete, \u00e8 rimasto solo NetworkManager.\n<li class=\"l\"> Per applicare le patch alle librerie nell'area utente senza interrompere il loro funzionamento, viene utilizzato lo strumento libpulp. Le patch live vengono applicate per correggere errori critici e vulnerabilit\u00e0 in glibc e openssl sui sistemi con architetture x86-64 e ppc64le.\n<li class=\"l\"> Per le interfacce di rete \u00e8 stato adottato uno schema di scelta dei nomi prevedibile, in cui a ciascun adattatore di rete viene assegnato un nome fisso che non cambier\u00e0 all'aggiunta\/rimozione di altri adattatori.\n<li class=\"l\"> Le impostazioni di sistema predefinite di systemd sono state spostate dalla directory \/etc a \/usr.\n<li class=\"l\"> Per impostazione predefinita, l'accesso SSH con l'utente root \u00e8 disabilitato durante l'autenticazione tramite password.\n<li class=\"l\"> Include un processo in background chiamato tuned, che esegue l'ottimizzazione automatica delle impostazioni hardware e del kernel in base al carico attuale.\n<li class=\"l\"> Aggiunta la supporto per NFS su TLS.\n<li class=\"l\"> Per la memorizzazione della partizione \/tmp \u00e8 stata utilizzata la FS tmpfs, che conserva i dati in memoria e non salva il contenuto tra i riavvii.\n<li class=\"l\"> Aggiornate le versioni dei pacchetti, tra cui il kernel 6.12, glibc 2.40, systemd 257, wine 10.10, dovecot 2.4, QEMU 10.0.2, MariaDB 11.8, PostgreSQL 17, PHP 8.4, Node.js 22, Python 3.13, Rust 1.88, ruby 3.4, clang 19, gcc 15.\n<li class=\"l\"> Aggiornati gli ambienti utente: GNOME 48 (nel rilascio precedente era GNOME 45), KDE 6.4 (era 5.27), Cinnamon 6.4 (era 6.0), LxQt 2.2 (era 1.2), Xfce 4.20 (era 4.18), MATE 1.28 (era 1.26), Sway 1.10 (era 1.6). I componenti dello stack grafico sono stati aggiornati a Mesa 24.3 e Qt 6.9. \u00c8 stata fornita la possibilit\u00e0 di utilizzare la variante Xfce 4.20 sopra il gestore di composizione labwc, che utilizza Wayland. Per organizzare il lavoro della schermata di accesso, invece di LightDM, \u00e8 stata implementata la possibilit\u00e0 di utilizzare greetd e gtkgreet.
