OpenSSL 3.6 \u00e8 considerato una release con supporto standard, con aggiornamenti rilasciati per un periodo di 13 mesi. Il supporto per le versioni precedenti OpenSSL 3.5 LTS, 3.4, 3.3, 3.2 e 3.0 LTS continuer\u00e0 fino ad aprile 2030, ottobre 2026, aprile 2026, novembre 2025 e settembre 2026 rispettivamente. Il codice del progetto \u00e8 distribuito con licenza Apache 2.0.     <\/p>\n<p>Novit\u00e0 principali:   <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> \u00c8 stata aggiunta la supporto per la struttura EVP_SKEY (Symmetric KEY) per rappresentare le chiavi simmetriche come oggetti opachi. A differenza delle raw-key rappresentate come array di byte, la struttura EVP_SKEY astrae la chiave e contiene metadati aggiuntivi. \u00c8 consentito utilizzare EVP_SKEY nelle funzioni di crittografia, scambio di chiavi e generazione di chiavi (KDF). Sono state aggiunte le funzioni EVP_KDF_CTX_set_SKEY(), EVP_KDF_derive_SKEY() e EVP_PKEY_derive_SKEY() per lavorare con le chiavi EVP_SKEY.\n<li class=\"l\"> \u00c8 stata aggiunta la supporto per la verifica delle firme digitali basata sullo schema LMS (Leighton-Micali Signatures), che utilizza funzioni hash e hashing ad albero in forma di albero di Merkle (Merkle Tree, ogni ramo verifica tutti i rami e nodi sottostanti). Le firme digitali LMS sono resistenti agli attacchi dei computer quantistici e sono progettate per garantire l'integrit\u00e0 di firmware e applicazioni.\n<li class=\"l\"> \u00c8 stato aggiunto il supporto per le categorie di sicurezza NIST per i parametri degli oggetti PKEY (chiavi pubbliche e private). La categoria di sicurezza viene impostata tramite la configurazione &#171;security-category&#187;. \u00c8 stata aggiunta la funzione EVP_PKEY_get_security_category() per controllare il livello di sicurezza. Il livello di sicurezza riflette la resistenza contro attacchi da computer quantistici e pu\u00f2 assumere valori interi da 0 a 5:\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> 0 \u2014 implementazione non resistente agli attacchi da computer quantistici;\n<li class=\"l\">  1\/3\/5 \u2014 l'implementazione non esclude la ricerca della chiave su un computer quantistico in una cifratura a blocchi con chiavi a 128\/192\/256 bit;\n<li class=\"l\">  2\/4 \u2014 l'implementazione non esclude la ricerca di collisioni in un hash a 256\/384 bit su un computer quantistico).   <\/ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> \u00c8 stato aggiunto il comando &#171;openssl configutl&#187; per elaborare il file di configurazione. L'utilit\u00e0 consente di generare un file riassuntivo con tutte le impostazioni basate su una configurazione multi-file con inclusioni include.\n<li class=\"l\"> Nel provider di crittografia FIPS \u00e8 stata aggiunta la supporto per la generazione deterministica delle firme digitali ECDSA (nello stesso set di dati viene generata la stessa firma), in conformit\u00e0 con i requisiti dello standard FIPS 186-5.\n<li class=\"l\"> Sono stati aumentati i requisiti per l'ambiente di compilazione. Per compilare OpenSSL ora non \u00e8 pi\u00f9 sufficiente disporre di strumenti che supportino ANSI-C, \u00e8 necessario un compilatore compatibile con lo standard C-99.\n<li class=\"l\"> Sono state dichiarate obsolete le funzioni relative alla struttura EVP_PKEY_ASN1_METHOD.\n<li class=\"l\"> \u00c8 stato interrotto il supporto per la piattaforma VxWorks.                  <\/ul>\n<p>Vulnerabilit\u00e0 corrette:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> CVE-2025-9230 \u2014 vulnerabilit\u00e0 nel codice di decrittazione dei messaggi CMS crittografati con password (PWRI). La vulnerabilit\u00e0 pu\u00f2 portare alla scrittura e lettura di dati al di fuori del buffer assegnato, consentendo di causare un arresto anomalo o danneggiare la memoria in un'applicazione che utilizza OpenSSL per trattare i messaggi CMS. Non \u00e8 escluso l'abuso della vulnerabilit\u00e0 per eseguire codice malevolo, ma il rischio \u00e8 ridotto dal fatto che la crittografia dei messaggi CMS con password \u00e8 molto raramente utilizzata nella pratica. Oltre alla versione OpenSSL 3.6.0, la vulnerabilit\u00e0 \u00e8 stata corretta nelle versioni OpenSSL 3.5.4, 3.4.3, 3.3.5, 3.2.6 e 3.0.18. Il problema \u00e8 stato inoltre risolto negli aggiornamenti delle librerie LibreSSL 4.0.1 e 4.1.1, sviluppate dal progetto OpenBSD.\n<li class=\"l\"> CVE-2025-9231 \u2014 l'implementazione dell'algoritmo SM2 \u00e8 vulnerabile ad attacchi tramite canali laterali che consentono, su sistemi con CPU ARM a 64 bit, di ricreare la chiave privata analizzando le variazioni del tempo di esecuzione di singole operazioni. Potenzialmente, l'attacco pu\u00f2 essere condotto da remoto. Il rischio dell'attacco \u00e8 ridotto dal fatto che OpenSSL non supporta direttamente l'uso di certificati con chiavi SM2 in TLS.\n<li class=\"l\"> CVE-2025-9232 \u2014 vulnerabilit\u00e0 nell'implementazione del client HTTP integrato, che pu\u00f2 portare alla lettura di dati al di fuori del buffer durante l'elaborazione di funzioni HTTP Client con URL appositamente formattati.
