Un gruppo di appassionati francesi ha presentato il progetto Open Printer, mirato alla creazione di una stampante a getto d'inchiostro colorata con hardware e software open source. Il dispositivo \u00e8 modulare e costruito su componenti standard sostituibili. La stampante pu\u00f2 essere assemblata come un kit e, se necessario, aggiornata, migliorata o riparata autonomamente. I risultati del progetto, inclusi file con schemi di componenti elettronici e meccanici, firmware, driver e liste dei materiali (BOM - Bill of Materials), saranno distribuiti con licenza Creative Commons BY-NC-SA 4.0, che vieta l'uso commerciale. <\/p>\n

La stampante pu\u00f2 utilizzare cartucce HP 63 (USA) e HP 302 (Europa), senza DRM, vincoli al produttore e limitazioni sul riempimento. \u00c8 consentita l'installazione di una cartuccia nera o di una cartuccia colorata, nonch\u00e9 di entrambe le cartucce (nera + colorata). Supporta la stampa sia su carta a rotolo da 27 millimetri che su fogli singoli A4 e A3. In modalit\u00e0 in bianco e nero, la stampante garantisce una risoluzione di 600 dpi, mentre in modalit\u00e0 colore offre 1200 dpi. <\/p>\n

Per gestire il funzionamento del dispositivo \u00e8 utilizzata una scheda Raspberry Pi Zero W con uscita su un display TFT da 1,47 pollici (172 x 320) e il cambio delle modalit\u00e0 tramite un pulsante a rotella di navigazione (Jogger wheel). Per il controllo della cartuccia viene impiegato un microcontrollore STM32. Per l'interazione con dispositivi esterni, \u00e8 dichiarato il supporto per USB Type-C (per il collegamento al computer), USB Type-A (per dispositivi di archiviazione), Wi-Fi 802.11ac e Bluetooth 4.1.
