L'organizzazione \u00e8 stata fondata in Germania per stimolare lo sviluppo di infrastrutture digitali aperte ed ecosistemi con codice sorgente aperto. Il fondo \u00e8 stato creato con fondi forniti dal Ministero dell'Economia e della Protezione del Clima della Germania e supervisionato dall'Agenzia Federale per l'Innovazione di Sfruttamento SPRIND. \u00c8 stato osservato che l'investimento nel software open source favorisce lo sviluppo di innovazioni in Germania e in Europa, aumentando la competitivit\u00e0, la produttivit\u00e0 e la capacit\u00e0 di promuovere innovazioni nelle piccole e medie imprese.     <\/p>\n<p>Progetti finanziati nel 2025:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Servo &#8212;  545 mila euro per il 2025 e 2026.\n<li class=\"l\"> chatmail &#8212; 497 mila euro per il 2025, 2026 e 2027.\n<li class=\"l\"> OpenSSL &#8212; 405 mila euro per il 2025 e 2026.\n<li class=\"l\"> Let&#8217;s Encrypt &#8212; 402 mila euro per il 2025 e 2026.\n<li class=\"l\"> systemd &#8212; 399 mila euro per il 2025 e 2026.\n<li class=\"l\"> R Project &#8212; 392 mila euro per il 2025, 2026 e 2027.\n<li class=\"l\"> Scala &#8212; 377 mila euro per il 2025, 2026 e 2027.\n<li class=\"l\"> Apache Arrow &#8212; 297 mila euro per il 2025, 2026 e 2027.\n<li class=\"l\"> conda &#8212; 247 mila euro per il 2025, 2026 e 2027.\n<li class=\"l\"> PHP &#8212; 223 mila euro per il 2025 e 2026.\n<li class=\"l\"> Open Web Docs &#8212; 220 mila euro per il 2025 e 2026.\n<li class=\"l\"> Drupal &#8212; 201 mila euro per il 2025 e 2026.\n<li class=\"l\"> Fedify &#8212; 192 mila euro per il 2025 e 2026.\n<li class=\"l\"> OpenPrinting &#8212; 190 mila euro per il 2025 e 2026.\n<li class=\"l\"> SDCC (Small Device C Compiler) &#8212; 98 mila euro per il 2025 e 2026.\n<li class=\"l\"> phpseclib &#8212; 50 mila euro per il 2025 e 2026.      <\/ul>\n<p>Dal 2022, l'organizzazione STF ha finanziato 87 progetti aperti, tra cui FreeBSD, GNOME, Samba, Rust, Pipewire, Eclipse, OpenStreetMap, Arch Linux e FFmpeg.
