L'implementazione funziona tramite la traduzione delle chiamate all'API Vulkan e consente, utilizzando Wine, di eseguire su Linux giochi retro legati all'API Direct3D 7. Il codice del progetto \u00e8 scritto in C++ e viene distribuito con licenza Zlib. Come base per lo sviluppo \u00e8 stato utilizzato il codice del backend d3d9 del progetto DXVK. <\/p>\n

Lo sviluppatore ha considerato la possibilit\u00e0 di rilasciare la versione 1.0 invece della 0.3, ma ha poi deciso che \u00e8 necessario risolvere alcuni problemi prima di raggiungere la piena prontezza. Nella nota viene anche evidenziato che lo sviluppatore non cercher\u00e0 di includere D7VK in DXVK, come avvenuto con le implementazioni di Direct3D 8 e Direct3D 9 su Vulkan. \u00c8 stata confermata la funzionalit\u00e0 in D7VK dei giochi Sacrifice, Disciples 2, Emperor: Battle for Dune, Vampire: The Masquerade \u2014 Redemption, Screamer 4\u00d74, 1NSANE, Hitman: Codename 47, Rune, X-COM: Enforcer e altri.
