Il premio \u00e8 stato conferito in riconoscimento del suo straordinario contributo al software libero e per la sua lunga dedizione al progetto VLC. Grazie a Jean, VLC \u00e8 cresciuto da un'iniziativa studentesca, fondata nel 1996, a uno dei lettori multimediali pi\u00f9 popolari, con 6,5 miliardi di download. <\/p>\n

Il premio viene assegnato dal 2023 a persone che hanno dato un contributo significativo alla promozione del software libero in Europa.
