Nel codice sorgente di Firefox, sul quale si baser\u00e0 il rilascio di Firefox 147 il 13 gennaio, sono state apportate modifiche che rendono il percorso «~\/.config\/mozilla» il predefinito per il salvataggio di profili, estensioni, impostazioni e database interni nei sistemi UNIX-like (la cache era gi\u00e0 stata trasferita in «~\/.cache\/mozilla»). Questa modifica \u00e8 stata implementata per allineare il browser alla specifica Freedesktop.org XDG Base Directory (la richiesta di modifica \u00e8 stata esaminata dal 2004). \u00c8 mantenuta la possibilit\u00e0 di utilizzare la vecchia cartella «~\/.mozilla» come opzione, attivabile avviando con la variabile d'ambiente «MOZ_LEGACY_HOME=1».
