Il comitato che gestisce lo sviluppo del set di compilatori GCC (GCC Steering Committee) ha approvato l'inclusione nel codice sorgente di GCC del frontend gcc-a68 per supportare il linguaggio di programmazione Algol 68, sviluppato alla fine degli anni '60. Dopo l'integrazione del frontend, gli strumenti standard di GCC potranno essere utilizzati per compilare programmi in Algol 68 senza la necessit\u00e0 di installare il compilatore GNU Algol 68. In modalit\u00e0 sperimentale, il frontend sar\u00e0 disponibile nella versione GCC 16, prevista per la primavera del prossimo anno. <\/p>\n

Il frontend per Algol 68 \u00e8 stato aggiunto con alcune avvertenze: non sar\u00e0 incluso nelle build predefinite e non sar\u00e0 considerato nella valutazione della prontezza di GCC per il rilascio.
