Il contenuto del repository viene trasformato in una presentazione web visiva in stile GitHub (esempio), composta esclusivamente da pagine HTML statiche e che non richiede l'esecuzione di script sul server. Questo approccio permette di creare siti per visualizzare il contenuto di repository git, che necessitano di risorse minime sul server. Il codice del progetto \u00e8 scritto in Go e distribuito con licenza MIT. <\/p>\n

Gitmal supporta temi, visualizzazione del codice con evidenziazione della sintassi e rendering del markdown. Oltre alla navigazione nella struttura del repository e visualizzazione dei contenuti dei file di codice, sono disponibili visualizzazioni per monitorare rami, tag e commit. \u00c8 possibile mantenere l'aspetto web aggiornato attraverso aggiornamenti incrementali, in cui le pagine mancanti vengono generate ad ogni modifica nel repository. Per ridurre le dimensioni del contenuto generato, possono essere applicati minificazione e compressione (flags \u2014minify \u2014gzip). La generazione di pagine web per repository con strumenti Zig, ZX e my-badges avviene in 25 minuti su MacBook Air M2 e comporta il salvataggio di circa 2 GB di file.
