In precedenza, gli sviluppatori di MinIO avevano espresso insoddisfazione riguardo all'uso delle loro tecnologie in prodotti proprietari di terze parti senza rispettare i termini della licenza AGPL e senza indicare l'autore (ad esempio, una delle aziende stava cercando di vendere un clone completo di MinIO, pubblicizzandolo come pi\u00f9 performante di MinIO). L'attuale codice sorgente rimane sotto la licenza AGPL 3.0 e, se lo desiderano, i partecipanti interessati possono creare un fork e svilupparlo autonomamente.
