L'utilit\u00e0 monitora lo stato della batteria del laptop, il carico sulla CPU, la temperatura della CPU e l'attivit\u00e0 nel sistema, attivando dinamicamente le modalit\u00e0 di risparmio energetico o di alta performance a seconda della situazione e delle opzioni selezionate. \u00c8 supportato il funzionamento su dispositivi con processori Intel, AMD e ARM. Pu\u00f2 essere gestita tramite un'interfaccia grafica basata su GTK o un utensile da console. Il codice \u00e8 scritto in Python e distribuito sotto licenza LGPLv3.    <\/p>\n<p>Tra le funzionalit\u00e0 supportate: monitoraggio della frequenza, del carico e della temperatura della CPU, regolazione della frequenza e delle modalit\u00e0 di consumo energetico della CPU in funzione della carica della batteria, della temperatura e del carico del sistema, ottimizzazione automatica delle prestazioni della CPU e del consumo energetico. Auto-cpufreq pu\u00f2 essere utilizzato per prolungare automaticamente il tempo di autonomia dei laptop senza ridurre continuamente alcune funzionalit\u00e0. A differenza dell'utilit\u00e0 TLP, auto-cpufreq non solo consente di impostare modalit\u00e0 di risparmio energetico durante l'uso autonomo del dispositivo, ma anche di attivare temporaneamente la modalit\u00e0 <a href=\"https:\/\/prohoster.info\/it\/server\/\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"3331\">elevate prestazioni<\/a> (turbo boost) quando viene rilevato un aumento del carico sul sistema.     <\/p>\n<p>Nella nuova versione \u00e8 implementata la possibilit\u00e0 di attivare o disattivare forzatamente la modalit\u00e0 turbo del CPU (turbo boost) tramite interfaccia grafica e riga di comando (\u00abauto-cpufreq \u2014turbo={never|always|auto}\u00bb), indipendentemente dal livello di carica della batteria. \u00c8 stato inoltre aggiunto nel file di configurazione il parametro battery_device per la selezione della batteria, nel caso di una errata identificazione automatica della batteria predefinita (le batterie disponibili possono essere visualizzate nella directory \/sys\/class\/power_supply\/). \u00c8 stato aggiunto un esempio di file di configurazione per Nixos.          <center><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Rilascio degli ottimizzatori di consumo energetico auto-cpufreq 3.0.0 e TLP 1.9.1\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/14ff4a618430fb826c15f7fa03282606.png\" style=\"display:block;margin: 0 auto;\" \/><\/center>      <\/p>\n<p>In aggiunta, si segnala il rilascio dell'utilit\u00e0 TLP 1.9.1, progettata per ottimizzare automaticamente il consumo energetico e prolungare il tempo di autonomia dei laptop. Oltre a gestire le modalit\u00e0 di risparmio energetico della CPU, l'utilit\u00e0 supporta l'attivazione e disattivazione adattiva di Bluetooth, NFC e Wi-Fi. Il codice del progetto \u00e8 scritto in Shell e Python e distribuito sotto licenza GPLv2.    <\/p>\n<p>Il ramo 1.9 si distingue per l'aggiunta di un processo in background opzionale tlp-pd, che consente di passare tra tre profili di consumo energetico \u2014 performance, balanced e power-saver. Il processo in background pu\u00f2 essere utilizzato come sostituto del servizio power-profiles-daemon e supporta l'API D-Bus, utilizzata per cambiare profili in GNOME, KDE e Cinnamon. Include anche l'utilit\u00e0 tlpctl per cambiare i profili dalla riga di comando e avviare singole applicazioni con un profilo specifico.    <\/p>\n<p>Nella versione correttiva TLP 1.9.1 \u00e8 stata risolta una vulnerabilit\u00e0 (CVE-2025-67859) nel nuovo processo in background tlp-pd, che consente di bypassare il controllo dell'autenticazione nel servizio Polkit ed eseguire azioni in tlp-pd che richiedono privilegi di amministrazione. Il processo tlp-pd viene eseguito con diritti di root e riceve richieste attraverso D-Bus. Alcune richieste possono essere inviate da qualsiasi utente che ha accesso locale confermato al sistema (che ha avviato una sessione grafica), mentre alcune azioni sono disponibili solo per l'amministratore.
