\u00c8 stato proposto un plugin sperimentale per il gestore di composizione KWin, che trasforma KDE in un ambiente desktop per sistemi di realt\u00e0 virtuale. Il plugin consente di creare un'interfaccia non su un monitor fisico, ma tramite schermate virtuali nello spazio 3D, il cui utilizzo avviene attraverso occhiali di realt\u00e0 aumentata o visori 3D. <\/p>\n

Supporta il lavoro con finestre flottanti, combinando schermi fisici e virtuali, posizionamento arbitrario degli schermi nello spazio 3D, e gestione tramite tastiera senza necessit\u00e0 di utilizzare il mouse o i controller VR, attivando la modalit\u00e0 di tracciamento della posizione dell'utente. Per il rendering \u00e8 stato utilizzato il modulo Qt Quick 3D Xr, basato su runtime OpenXR. Come runtime \u00e8 stata testata la piattaforma Monado in combinazione con gli occhiali di realt\u00e0 aumentata Rokid Max e HP G2, oltre a un server<\/a> WiVRn con il visore 3D Quest 3.

Per l'organizzazione dell'input \u00e8 stato implementato il dispositivo KwinVrInputDevice, che consente di spostare il cursore come con un mouse, senza essere limitato ai confini dell'area di output. Per posizionare le finestre nello spazio 3D vengono utilizzate le funzionalit\u00e0 standard di KWin, leggermente modificate per le finestre pop-up e ampliate con la possibilit\u00e0 di spostare le finestre oltre l'area di output. Per funzionare, \u00e8 necessario applicare patch a Qt e XWayland. La maggior parte delle patch \u00e8 gi\u00e0 stata accettata nel codice sorgente di Qt e sar\u00e0 inclusa nelle versioni 6.10.2 e 6.11, restano solo 4 patch non trasferite.
