In Canonical giustificano questa decisione evidenziando che molte funzionalit\u00e0 dello strumento sono eccessivamente complesse o potenzialmente pericolose per gli utenti comuni.<\/p>\n<p>La principale preoccupazione riguarda la possibilit\u00e0 di disabilitare l'accesso ai principali repository di Ubuntu tramite l'interfaccia grafica. La disattivazione accidentale di queste sorgenti potrebbe portare all'impossibilit\u00e0 di installare aggiornamenti critici di sistema.<\/p>\n<p>Secondo Jean-Baptiste Lallemand di Canonical, la gestione degli abbonamenti Ubuntu Pro nella nuova versione della distribuzione \u00e8 stata trasferita nell'applicazione Centro Sicurezza (Security Center), realizzata sulla base di Snap. L'abbandono della pre-installazione della vecchia utility, scritta in GTK3, permetter\u00e0 agli ingegneri di non dover spendere risorse per il suo supporto durante il ciclo di vita di Ubuntu 26.04.<\/p>\n<p>Le modifiche riguarderanno solo l'interfaccia grafica. Il pacchetto software-properties-common, che garantisce il funzionamento degli strumenti principali da linea di comando per la gestione dei repository e dei PPA, rimarr\u00e0 nel sistema. Comandi come add-apt-repository continueranno a funzionare normalmente.<\/p>\n<p>Gli utenti che necessitano di un'interfaccia grafica per gestire i mirror, i PPA o il comportamento degli aggiornamenti potranno installare l'utility autonomamente. Il pacchetto software-properties-gtk \u00e8 stato mantenuto nel repository principale della release 26.04 LTS.
