Per il kernel di Linux \u00e8 stata proposta una modifica che ottimizza il funzionamento del nuovo allocatore di swap durante le operazioni legate al passaggio in modalit\u00e0 sospensione (ibernazione). Durante il lavoro, uno degli sviluppatori ha notato che il passaggio in modalit\u00e0 sospensione non supportava l'allocazione rapida di grandi regioni nella partizione di swap. Su sistemi con SSD lenti, a causa di ci\u00f2, si sono verificati problemi di prestazioni nelle operazioni con blocchi da 4K, portando a un notevole rallentamento del passaggio in modalit\u00e0 sospensione. <\/p>\n

Durante i test su un sistema con unit\u00e0 Samsung SSD 830 (SATA II, 3.0 Gbps), la patch proposta, che comprende solo alcune decine di righe, ha consentito di ridurre il tempo di transizione in modalit\u00e0 sospensione di quasi 10 volte \u2014 da 324 a 35 secondi. Si sta prendendo in considerazione la possibilit\u00e0 di integrare la patch nel ramo del kernel 7.0 attualmente in sviluppo, cos\u00ec come l'eventuale backporting nelle versioni 6.18, 6.19 e possibilmente altre branche stabili supportate.
