Gli sviluppatori del progetto GNOME hanno annunciato l'inizio del reindirizzamento di parte delle richieste ai principali repository Git del progetto verso i mirror ospitati su GitHub. Tutte le operazioni di \"git clone\" da gitlab.gnome.org\/GNOME\/ ora vengono reindirizzate a github.com\/GNOME\/. Il progetto ha trasferito l'infrastruttura di sviluppo su GitLab nel 2018 (in precedenza venivano utilizzati cgit e Bugzilla). <\/p>\n

La motivazione citata \u00e8 stata la necessit\u00e0 di ridurre i costi a causa dell'alto volume di traffico. \u00c8 stato osservato che, se le misure adottate si rivelassero insufficienti, si prevederebbe l'implementazione di ulteriori misure per ridurre il consumo di traffico, che permetterebbero di abbattere i costi e rimuovere il reindirizzamento da GitLab a GitHub. Questa modifica ha gi\u00e0 causato problemi ad alcuni utenti, manifestati nel caricamento di dati obsoleti e nel malfunzionamento del reindirizzamento automatico.
