Il progetto Gentoo ha preparato un'immagine di sistema sperimentale con il kernel GNU Hurd e ha pubblicato script per la creazione autonoma dell'immagine e per facilitare lo sviluppo del porting Hurd. Sono previsti futuri rilasci della fase e creazioni automatiche di immagini, oltre al raggiungimento della parit\u00e0 con Gentoo Linux sui sistemi x86-64. <\/p>\n

Rendendo omaggio al primo aprile, il progetto ha annunciato il passaggio all'uso di GNU Hurd come kernel principale. Si specifica che per lungo tempo il kernel Linux \u00e8 stato fonte di instabilit\u00e0, ma nonostante lo stato sperimentale del porting, GNU Hurd si \u00e8 rivelato pi\u00f9 affidabile e Gentoo prevede di abbandonare il kernel Linux entro la fine del 2026. <\/p>\n
