Il driver sar\u00e0 inizialmente testato nel ramo linux-next e sar\u00e0 portato a termine per l'integrazione nel kernel Linux 7.2.     <\/p>\n<p>La vecchia versione di DRBD \u00e8 fornita nel kernel a partire dalla versione 2.6.33, rilasciata 16 anni fa. Il codice presente nel kernel si basa sul ramo DRBD 8, che differisce notevolmente dal ramo DRBD 9, rilasciato nel 2015 e non compatibile a livello di protocollo. Cos\u00ec, il ramo DRBD 9 si \u00e8 sviluppato come un modulo esterno separato, non sincronizzato con il modulo del kernel principale. L'implementazione di DRBD presente nel kernel \u00e8 stata seguita separatamente e risulta obsoleta rispetto alla base di codice attuale di DRBD di 10-15 anni. Le patch proposte sono state create per colmare questo divario.    <\/p>\n<p>DRBD offre la possibilit\u00e0 di unire i dispositivi dei nodi del cluster in un'unica archiviazione a prova di guasto. Per le applicazioni e il sistema, questo storage appare come un dispositivo a blocchi identico per tutti i sistemi. Utilizzando DRBD, tutte le operazioni sul disco locale vengono inviate ad altri nodi e sincronizzate con i dischi di altre macchine. In caso di guasto di un nodo, lo storage continuer\u00e0 automaticamente a funzionare grazie ai nodi rimanenti. Quando il nodo guasto torna disponibile, il suo stato verr\u00e0 automaticamente aggiornato per essere in linea con l'attuale.     <\/p>\n<p>Il cluster che forma lo storage pu\u00f2 includere fino a 32 nodi, collocati sia nella rete locale che in posizioni geografiche distanti. <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/prohoster.info\/it\/kompaniya\/data-centers\/\" title=\"centri di elaborazione dati\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">centri di elaborazione dati<\/a>. La sincronizzazione in tali archivi ramificati avviene sotto forma di rete mesh \u2014 i dati si distribuiscono lungo la catena da nodo a nodo. La replica dei nodi pu\u00f2 avvenire sia in modalit\u00e0 sincrona che in modalit\u00e0 asincrona. Ad esempio, i nodi collocati localmente possono utilizzare la replica sincrona, mentre per i nodi in siti remoti pu\u00f2 essere applicata la replica asincrona con compressione e crittografia aggiuntiva del traffico.    <\/p>\n<p>Il ramo DRBD 9 si distingue per l'astrazione del livello di trasporto, che consente di implementare canali di comunicazione non solo sopra TCP\/IP, ma anche utilizzando RDMA\/Infiniband. Rispetto al funzionamento sopra una rete IP tradizionale, l'integrazione dell'accesso diretto alla memoria volatile di un altro computer tramite RDMA (Remote Direct Memory Access) ha raddoppiato le prestazioni di replica riducendo il carico sulla CPU del 50%. La dimensione massima dello storage sincronizzato \u00e8 aumentata a 32 nodi. In DRBD 9 \u00e8 stata anche modificata la logica di riesincronizzazione dei nodi, rielaborato il meccanismo di blocco, aggiunta il supporto per lo spazio dei nomi di rete (network namespace), garantita l'installazione automatica dello stato del nodo in base all'attivit\u00e0, aggiunto il supporto per i commit a due fasi e la distribuzione degli aggiornamenti in modalit\u00e0 non bloccante.
