\u00c8 stata rilasciata la prima versione pubblica della libreria multimediale LDL (Little DirectMedia Layer), che consente di creare applicazioni grafiche in grado di funzionare su sistemi sia moderni che obsoleti (Windows 95+, distribuzioni con kernel Linux 2.0+, FreeBSD 3.0+). Viene fornito un semplice API multipiattaforma per la gestione delle finestre e l'elaborazione degli eventi degli input. Per il rendering pu\u00f2 essere utilizzato OpenGL 1.0-4.6. Il codice \u00e8 distribuito sotto licenza LGPL 3.0. <\/p>\n

Il rilascio \u00e8 notevole per il passaggio dall'uso del linguaggio C++98 al linguaggio ANSI C (C89) per garantire la massima portabilit\u00e0 e compatibilit\u00e0 con compilatori e piattaforme pi\u00f9 vecchi, inclusi DOS, Windows 95 e PlayStation 1. Il progetto \u00e8 previsto in sviluppo graduale: nella prima versione sono state proposte funzionalit\u00e0 per la gestione di finestre, eventi di input e grafica, dopodich\u00e9 inizier\u00e0 lo sviluppo del renderer 2D, strumenti per la gestione del suono e dei font, backend per operare sopra le librerie SDL 1.2, SDL 2.x, SDL 3.x, SFML e GLFW. L'uso dei backend SDL, SFML e GLFW permetter\u00e0 di compilare applicazioni per piattaforme non direttamente supportate in LDL senza modificare il codice. Nei piani futuri \u00e8 prevista anche la creazione di un'API universale per la gestione di sprite e grafica 2D, che potr\u00e0 essere utilizzata indipendentemente dal backend scelto (OpenGL, Vulkan, rendering software, librerie come SDL).
