La vulnerabilit\u00e0 \u00e8 stata codificata con il nome DirtyDecrypt (il problema \u00e8 anche conosciuto come DirtyCBC). \u00c8 disponibile un prototipo di exploit.        <\/p>\n<p>Nell'annuncio dell'exploit non \u00e8 menzionato alcun identificatore CVE, si indica solo che i ricercatori hanno scoperto il problema il 9 maggio, dopo di che hanno informato gli sviluppatori del kernel, che hanno risposto che la loro scoperta duplicava un'altra segnalazione su una vulnerabilit\u00e0 gi\u00e0 corretta. Poich\u00e9 la patch correttiva \u00e8 gi\u00e0 stata inclusa nel kernel, i ricercatori hanno deciso di pubblicare l'exploit che hanno sviluppato. A giudicare dalla descrizione all'interno dell'exploit, sembra utilizzare la vulnerabilit\u00e0 CVE-2026-31635, la cui correzione \u00e8 stata accettata nel kernel ad aprile ed \u00e8 inclusa nella versione 7.0.0 e nella release 6.18.23 formata il 18 aprile. Il problema si manifesta a partire dal kernel 6.16.    <\/p>\n<p>Come nel caso della serie di vulnerabilit\u00e0 Dirty Frag, la nuova vulnerabilit\u00e0 \u00e8 presente nel driver RxRPC, che implementa la famiglia di socket AF_RXRPC e il protocollo RPC omonimo che opera su UDP. Il problema \u00e8 causato da un errore nella verifica della dimensione dei dati nella funzione rxgk_verify_response() \u2014 invece di controllare 'if (auth_len &gt; len)', il codice conteneva 'if (auth_len &lt; len)&#039;, il che portava al passaggio alla funzione rxgk_decrypt_skb() di dati di dimensioni superiori a quelle consentite. Durante l&#039;esecuzione della funzione rxgk_decrypt_skb(), la decrittazione dei dati avveniva sovrascrivendo direttamente nella cache della pagina per evitare ulteriori buffering. A causa della verifica errata della dimensione, c&#039;era la possibilit\u00e0 di sovrascrivere i dati nella cache della pagina a un offset scelto.        <\/p>\n<p> Sfruttare la vulnerabilit\u00e0 consiste nel leggere il file di un programma con il flag suid root (per farlo risiedere nella cache della pagina) e sostituire nella cache della pagina una parte del codice del programma con codice per avviare \/usr\/bin\/sh. L'esecuzione successiva del programma porter\u00e0 a caricare in memoria non l'eseguibile originale dal supporto, ma una copia modificata dalla cache della pagina. Tra i programmi suid previsti nell'exploit ci sono ' \/usr\/bin\/su', ' \/bin\/su', ' \/usr\/bin\/mount', ' \/usr\/bin\/passwd' e ' \/usr\/bin\/chsh'.      <\/p>\n<p>Per sfruttare la vulnerabilit\u00e0, l'opzione CONFIG_RXGK deve essere attiva durante la compilazione del kernel, e il modulo del kernel rxrpc.ko deve essere disponibile per l'avvio automatico (in alcuni sistemi potrebbe non essere compilato). Lo stato della correzione delle vulnerabilit\u00e0 nei vari distribuzioni pu\u00f2 essere valutato sulle seguenti pagine: Debian, Ubuntu, SUSE\/openSUSE, RHEL, Arch, Fedora. Come soluzione temporanea di protezione, \u00e8 possibile bloccare il caricamento del modulo del kernel rxrpc:    <\/p>\n<p>     sh -c 'printf 'install rxrpc \/bin\/false\n' &gt; \/etc\/modprobe.d\/dirtydecrypt.conf; rmmod rxrpc 2&gt;\/dev\/null; true'          <\/p>\n<p>Inoltre, si segnala la pubblicazione nella mailing list degli sviluppatori del kernel Linux di patch che disabilitano completamente nelle API crypto (AF_ALG) le ottimizzazioni che utilizzano l'accesso diretto alla cache della pagina durante la decrittazione con algoritmi 'skcipher' e 'aead'. Le ottimizzazioni escludono il buffering dei dati non necessari, ma creano rischi di gravi vulnerabilit\u00e0. Si prevede che la loro disabilitazione comporti solo una leggera diminuzione delle prestazioni a causa della necessit\u00e0 di un'ulteriore operazione di copia in un buffer separato.
