La distribuzione offre una libreria modulare di blocchi IP e realizzazioni di chip pronte per la certificazione e testate per la prontezza alla produzione (tapeout-proven). Combinando elementi di questa libreria, \u00e8 possibile costruire chip personalizzati per vari ambiti applicativi, dai data center, agli acceleratori AI e controller specializzati, fino ai sistemi embedded con risorse limitate e dispositivi Internet of Things (IoT). I risultati del progetto sono distribuiti sotto la licenza Apache 2.0.<\/p>\n<p>Tra i fondatori del progetto ci sono 12 aziende e organizzazioni, tra cui Qualcomm Technologies, Meta, Analog Devices, Baochip, SIMPLE Crypto Association, Tenstorrent, Winbond e ZeroRISC. Il progetto si sviluppa in una piattaforma neutrale, indipendente dai singoli produttori, e viene gestito dai partecipanti della comunit\u00e0 che si \u00e8 formata attorno ad esso.<\/p>\n<p>Pavona offre blocchi IP con cuori RISC-V (Ibex RV32IMCB e VexII), acceleratori crittografici con supporto per algoritmi crittografici classici e post-quantum, controller OTP\/flash, SRAM, JTAG, ADC, I2C, GPIO e SPI. Tra gli algoritmi crittografici implementati a livello hardware ci sono: HMAC, KMAC, AES, EDN, ASCON, ML-KEM, ML-DSA, DSA-SHA2 e SLH-DSA-SHAKE. \u00c8 fornita completa documentazione e risorse per la verifica prima della produzione (Design Verification collateral) e RTL-code. Oltre ai componenti hardware, il progetto fornisce anche software, come una libreria crittografica per l'integrazione con gli acceleratori crittografici, firmware e utility correlate.<\/p>\n<p>Sulla base di Pavona sono state preparate due implementazioni di riferimento: un chip separato con funzionalit\u00e0 crittografiche integrate da utilizzare come &#171;Root of Trust&#187; e un'implementazione &#171;Root of Trust&#187; per l'architettura dei chiplet, testate in produzione utilizzando il processo tecnologico TSMC 3nm (N3). I chiplet consentono di creare circuiti integrati ibridi combinati (moduli multi-chip), formati da blocchi semiconduttori indipendenti. Si osserva che Pavona \u00e8 diventato il primo progetto a fornire uno stack open source pronto per la produzione integrato nei chip, con supporto per algoritmi crittografici post-quantum (PQC).<br
