In Azure Linux 4.0, the Linux 6.18 kernel comes with additional optimizations, protection against supply chain attacks, a predictable support and update release cycle, tools for Azure cloud integration, and enhanced security features including system call filtering, disk partition encryption, verification of repositories and packages via digital signatures, protection against attacks related to symbolic links, and build options to mitigate buffer overflows. <\/p>\n

The package includes new drivers optimized for hardware used in Azure, improved integration with the Hyper-V hypervisor, and support for GPU and AI accelerators. The tdnf package manager has been replaced with dnf5, and SELinux support is ensured. The involved versions of the system components are: glibc 2.42, OpenSSL 3.5, systemd 258, Python 3.14, RPM 6.0.
