Questa modifica ha consentito di migliorare le prestazioni del codice generato durante il test 544.nab_r del 12,7% con l'ottimizzazione \u00ab-O2 -mtune=graniterapids\u00bb per le CPU Intel Granite Rapids\/Xeon 6 e del 12,1% con l'ottimizzazione \u00ab-O2 -mtune=znver5\u00bb sulle CPU AMD Zen5.<\/p>\n<p>La modifica del peso da \u00abCOSTS_N_INSNS (2)\u00bb a \u00abCOSTS_N_INSNS (2) + 3\u00bb aumenta l'impatto dell'errore di previsione da 2 a 5 istruzioni condizionali, riflettendo meglio le caratteristiche delle pipeline nei moderni CPU, dove gli errori di previsione del branching sono pi\u00f9 costosi. Il cambiamento di peso forza la trasformazione da parte del compilatore delle espressioni \u00abif\u00bb in istruzioni condizionali senza salti, come CMOV, escludendo le interruzioni causate da previsioni di branching errate che richiederebbero il ripristino dello stato della pipeline. In precedenza, il peso \u00abCOSTS_N_INSNS (2) + 3\u00bb era specificato nel GCC solo per i processori Intel Ice Lake e Alder Lake, mentre ora \u00e8 stato impostato per il profilo generico delle CPU x86.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c8 interessante notare che dopo l'implementazione della patch \u00e8 emersa una regressione, che ha fatto s\u00ec che il test &#171;Hint&#187; fosse eseguito da uno degli sviluppatori GCC con un rallentamento del 30% durante la compilazione con le opzioni &#171;-march=generic -mtune=znver5&#187; e &#171;-march=generic -mtune=graniterapids&#187;. Le prestazioni dei test SPEC2017 e SPEC2026 dopo la modifica sono rimaste costanti. La regressione \u00e8 stata confermata dall'autore del commit originale, secondo il quale il rallentamento del test Hint \u00e8 del 14% durante la compilazione con le opzioni &#171;-O2 -mtune=generic -march=x86-64-v3&#187;. <\/p>\n<p>Il rallentamento \u00e8 spiegato dal fatto che nel codice del test Hint esiste solo una condizione condizionale, convertita da GCC in una rappresentazione basata su CMOV.
