Njs consente di utilizzare script JavaScript nei file di configurazione per estendere le capacit\u00e0 di nginx. Gli script possono essere utilizzati per definire logiche di elaborazione delle richieste avanzate, configurazione, generazione dinamica delle risposte, modifica di richieste\/risposte o creazione rapida di stub per risolvere problemi nelle applicazioni web. Il codice del progetto \u00e8 scritto in C ed \u00e8 distribuito con licenza BSD.<\/p>\n

Nella nuova versione, il motore JavaScript proprietario njs \u00e8 stato declassato come obsoleto. Il motore principale raccomandato \u00e8 ora QuickJS, creato da Fabrice Bellard. Tra le nuove funzionalit\u00e0 nella versione 1.0.0 si segnalano un inasprimento dei controlli delle richieste nel metodo ngx.fetch() e l'unificazione delle classi di gestione delle eccezioni.
