Arnd Bergmann, responsabile dei pacchetti del kernel in SUSE, ha preparato delle patch per rimuovere dal kernel circa 55.000 righe di codice relative al supporto di piattaforme ARM obsolete, che sono quasi inutilizzate e ostacolano la manutenzione dei sottosistemi attuali. Le piattaforme destinate alla rimozione includono sa1100, omap24xx, i.MX31, samv7, lpc18xx, riscpc, axxia, footbridge, vecchie schede pxa, orion, dove e mv78xx0, chip senza unit\u00e0 di gestione della memoria (MMU) e microcontrollori stm32f4\/f7\/h7. Le piattaforme indicate sono previste per essere rimosse nel kernel 7.5, atteso nel primo trimestre del 2027, per evitare di effettuare la rimozione nel kernel LTS e dare tempo agli utenti di dichiarare la continuazione dell'uso di alcuni sistemi per prevenirne la rimozione.
