\u00c8 stato presentato il porting di un layer per eseguire applicazioni Windows Wine, in grado di funzionare su OpenBSD. Il problema principale nell'esecuzione di Wine su OpenBSD \u00e8 legato al divieto di installazione del registro gsbase dallo spazio utente, mentre durante l'esecuzione delle applicazioni Windows questo registro viene utilizzato per accedere alla memoria locale del thread. Nel progetto proposto, questa limitazione \u00e8 stata superata tramite l'emulazione del prefisso di segmento %gs nei comandi. <\/p>\n

Tra le limitazioni del porting si segnala la possibilit\u00e0 di eseguire solo programmi Windows a 64 bit (la modalit\u00e0 WoW64 per l'esecuzione di applicazioni Windows a 32 bit nei sistemi Unix a 64 bit non \u00e8 ancora operativa).
