Fino alla versione IME 11, il modulo era basato su un'architettura unica e, senza documentazione specifica, non rappresentava un grave rischio; tuttavia, pu\u00f2 consentire l'accesso alle informazioni nella memoria del PC. Dalla versione IME 11, il modulo \u00e8 diventato compatibile con x86 e accessibile a un pubblico pi\u00f9 ampio (maggiori dettagli sulla vulnerabilit\u00e0 INTEL-SA-00086 qui e nei link successivi). Pi\u00f9 precisamente, il VISA \u00e8 anche uno strumento Intel per controllare la funzionalit\u00e0 dei processori.
