Drew DeVault<\/a>, sviluppatore attivo del protocollo Wayland, creatore del progetto Sway<\/a> e della libreria associata wlroots<\/a> ha annunciato sul suo microblog<\/a> un nuovo compositore Wayland \u2014 Wio<\/a>, un\u2019implementazione del sistema a finestre Rio<\/a>, utilizzato nel sistema operativo Plan 9<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Esternamente, il compositore riproduce l'aspetto e il comportamento dell'originale Rio, creando, spostando e rimuovendo finestre dei terminali con il mouse, eseguendo all'interno di esse programmi grafici (il porting di Rio su X11 del progetto Plan 9 from User Space<\/a> non replicava la funzionalit\u00e0 originale, creando semplicemente una nuova finestra con il programma accanto).<\/p>\n

All'interno, utilizza un compositore wlroots Cage<\/a> per creare 'chioschi', il cui codice consente di eseguire pi\u00f9 display Wayland all'interno di una singola sessione utente. Secondo DeVault, questa \u00e8 una delle funzionalit\u00e0 interessanti che evidenziano la differenza fondamentale nel design di Wayland rispetto a X11, dove questo \u00e8 semplicemente impossibile o difficile da ottenere.<\/p>\n
